Island Entrepreneur Launches Logistics Platform to Tackle Isle of Wight Delivery Challenges

A New Solution for Delivery Challenges on the Isle of Wight

An ambitious new open-access logistics platform has been launched by a man from the Isle of Wight, aiming to tackle the long-standing issue of delivery difficulties on the island. This innovative service, called Car-Go Systems, allows customers to access and book freight needs online, providing a streamlined solution for those who have struggled with traditional logistics services.

Car-Go Systems was created by Caine Morris, who came up with the idea after experiencing a frustrating situation in 2019. Following a car accident in Northwood, he needed to arrange the transport of a car door to the Isle of Wight. The process involved contacting various logistics companies, trying to piece together a delivery arrangement, which proved to be both time-consuming and inefficient.

This experience highlighted the challenges that residents and businesses on the Isle of Wight face when it comes to accessing reliable delivery services. “Too often, Isle of Wight residents and businesses are told: We don’t deliver there,” said Caine. “Especially when companies offer free UK mainland delivery, which often excludes the Island.”

Since then, Caine has been working tirelessly to develop Car-Go Systems. He collaborated with friends from the University of Sussex, building the platform from the ground up. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed, as they have secured multiple awards and over £12,000 in funding from the university.

Building a Supportive Network

The success of Car-Go Systems has also been supported by local figures, including the Isle of Wight’s MP, Richard Quigley, and the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce. These partnerships have allowed Caine and his team to connect with key government and industry stakeholders, who have played a vital role in shaping the platform.

Car-Go Systems has also become a member of the Freight Innovation Cluster, engaging in discussions with the Department for Transport. This collaboration has demonstrated the supportive nature of the Isle of Wight community, which is keen to help individuals bring their ideas to life.

How Car-Go Works

Now launching on the Isle of Wight in partnership with Acclaim Logistics, Car-Go offers a straightforward solution for customers. The process involves sending goods to a mainland depot, where they can then use the platform to arrange delivery directly to an Island address.

This approach ensures that if something can be delivered on the mainland, it should also reach the Isle of Wight. For Caine, this initiative represents more than just a business venture—it is a way to bring a much-needed solution back to his home.

Benefits for Residents and Businesses

The launch of Car-Go Systems is expected to benefit both residents and businesses on the Isle of Wight. By providing an accessible and efficient logistics platform, it aims to reduce the frustrations associated with traditional delivery services. This could lead to cost savings for businesses and greater convenience for residents who previously faced limited options.

Additionally, the platform encourages a more inclusive approach to logistics, ensuring that the Isle of Wight is not overlooked in the broader network of delivery services across the UK.

Looking Ahead

As Car-Go Systems continues to grow, it will likely play an important role in reshaping the logistics landscape on the Isle of Wight. With its focus on accessibility and innovation, the platform has the potential to set a new standard for delivery services in the region.

For now, the success of Car-Go Systems stands as a testament to the power of determination, collaboration, and community support. It is a reminder that even the most challenging problems can be addressed with the right vision and effort.
