Bank of Korea Busan Branch: Currency supply during the Lunar New Year holiday decreased by about 18% compared to the previous year
Bank of Korea Busan Branch providedThe Bank of Korea's Busan Branch reported that the amount of currency supplied to the Busan and Ulsan areas during the business days before this year's Lunar New Year holiday decreased by about 18% compared to last year.
According to the Bank of Korea's Busan Branch, the net currency issuance from February 2nd to 13th was 40.4 billion won, a 17.9% decrease compared to 49.21 billion won last year.
The currency issuance amount was 41.35 billion won, a 17.2% decrease compared to the previous year, while the currency recovery amount returned to the Bank of Korea from the market was 950 million won, an increase of 28.4%.
This decline is interpreted as being influenced by changes in currency usage habits, such as contactless holiday greetings and the spread of mobile money transfers.
