[USER PARABOLAㅣBuyeo=Kim Hyung-jong reporter] Chungcheongnam-do Buyeo County has started spreading advanced agricultural technology by conducting rice cultivation technology education in Uzbekistan.

Byeo-myeo County said on the 13th that it conducted education for local farmers, focusing on water management technology, which is a core aspect of rice farming in the Namangan Province of Uzbekistan.

This education was arranged at the request of the Uzbekistan Rural Development Agency for practical training and technology transfer under the KOPIA (Overseas Agricultural Technology Development Project).

Education was participated by Buryeo County and the Buryeo Rice Farmers Association, and Oh Yun-hwan, head of Chonghwa Branch affiliated with the association led by Kim Min-ho, visited the site in person to give lectures on practical topics such as rice cultivation techniques and water management.

Uzbekistan is implementing various policies to expand rice production. It is making efforts to build production infrastructure through projects such as the excellent rice seed center, centered around the KOPIA Center.

Buyeo County plans to establish an excellent rice seed production area of about 10 hectares within the 60 hectares of rice cultivation areas scheduled for development this year, for the 'Excellent Rice Seed Center Project' of the KOPIA Center. Through this, it is expected that cooperation in rice cultivation technology and the establishment of a seed production base between the two countries will be further expanded.

Educational field participants included KOPIA Center international experts, rice farming researchers, officials from Uzbekistan's Agricultural Knowledge Innovation System (AKIS), and local farmers, showing high interest.

Buyeo County reaffirmed the plan to designate 60 hectares of rice cultivation areas as a special zone in 2026 during a cooperation meeting with the Namangan Province government during this visit, and discussed ways to further expand agricultural cooperation in the future.

Park Jeong-hyun, mayor of Buryeo County, said, "This education will be an opportunity for Buryeo County's agricultural technology to be recognized internationally." He added, "We will actively support the county's farmers to take center stage in international agricultural dissemination projects, going beyond simple technology transfer and playing a central role."

Buyeo County plans to continue expanding rice cultivation technology exchanges and international agricultural cooperation projects, based on the KOPIA Center and cooperation with Uzbekistan.
