Capture Sanku... Hyundai Department Store partners with UnionPay to introduce Apple Pay
[USER PARABOLA Hanjeong Kim, reporter] Hyundai Department Store (069960) has started to target Chinese individual tourists (Ctrip) ahead of China's largest holiday, the Spring Festival. The strategy is to enhance mobile payment convenience and expand experiential content to actively attract foreign customers.

According to the industry on the 13th, Hyundai Department Store will support Apple Pay payments at all its department stores and outlets nationwide starting from the 14th, in cooperation with the Chinese card company UnionPay. UnionPay is the service provider for Apple Pay in China. Hyundai Department Store is the first department store in South Korea to officially partner with UnionPay and introduce Apple Pay.
Accordingly, Chinese customers will be able to make payments through mobile devices such as iPhones without physical cards. To commemorate the introduction, Hyundai Department Store will offer Chinese customers a discount of up to 12% when paying with Apple Pay until January next year.
Hyundai Department Store plans to expand mobile payment methods in the future. It is also considering adding UnionPay-operated Huawei Pay and Xiaomi Pay as early as June. The company aims to apply the widely used mobile payment infrastructure in China to its domestic stores, thereby enhancing shopping convenience.
In addition to the payment system, content will also be enhanced. During the first half of this year, a K-Beauty and K-Fashion dedicated pop-up space will be set up on the 6th floor of The Hyundai Seoul, and experience programs such as personal color analysis and T-shirt customization will be operated. Plans are also underway to actively promote stores and F&B content through food restaurant information apps and airline and accommodation reservation platforms.
A Hyundai Department Store official said, "We expect an increase in visits from Sincere customers ahead of the Spring Festival," and "we will build a differentiated shopping environment that foreign customers can only experience at Hyundai Department Store."
