Judicial Reform, handled without compromise in February's parliament

Jeong Chung-rae, head of the Democratic Party, strongly criticized the decision of Jang Dong-hyeok, head of the People Power Party, not to attend a lunch at the Blue House, saying it was "a childish decision even worse than that of a kindergarten student."
Jeong said, "A unilateral cancellation notice just one hour before the meeting started is an absurd and extremely rude act."
Earlier, Chairman Jang said he would not attend a lunch at the Blue House hosted by President Lee Jae-yong, as a form of protest against the opposition party's forced processing of the court petition law and the Supreme Court justices expansion bill in the committee. The opposition suspects that the purpose of forcing these bills was an "operation" to make the president, who has already received a guilty verdict from the Supreme Court, innocent.
Representative Jeong, who had previously criticized Chairman Jang with comments such as "he has not the slightest courtesy" and "disrespectful to the people who elected the president," also said on this day, "Many people joke with me saying 'there is good fortune for the opposition,' but I don't wish for such good fortune," and added, "I hope he returns to normal behavior."
Politics is about thinking about how to make people's lives better," he said, adding, "the leaders' meeting scheduled the day before was also a venue to discuss livelihood issues, and the purpose was to have an open and sincere discussion on matters directly related to people's lives, regardless of political struggles.
Meanwhile, it stated, "The People Power Party belittled the leaders' meeting as 'a meal made from grains of sand,' and said that it 'hides a knife in one hand and asks for a handshake with the other,' thereby mocking sincerity itself." It also characterized Lee as "not only being rude to the head of state representing the country, but also rude to the people," after he had said he would participate in the Central Committee meeting, but quickly changed his stance when some members of the Central Committee opposed it.
The opposition party, People's Power, criticized the so-called "judicial reform plan" as "a reckless act of overturning the Supreme Court's ruling and creating innocence," and boycotted the parliamentary plenary session. It condemned the move as "a disgraceful action lacking any political ethics or common courtesy."
Jeong said, "Is this the image of a responsible opposition party that the People's Power Party has in mind, when it ruined the leaders' meeting that they so desperately requested and implored for, and furthermore ignored the handling of people's livelihood bills?" and added, "Please stop acting like a child."
At the same time, he said, "No matter what words the People's Power Party uses to talk about cooperation in the future, can the people truly believe those words?" and urged, "If they genuinely care about people's livelihood, I hope they will abandon strategic judgments and join in cross-party cooperation for the nation's interests."
Regarding judicial reform, he said, 'As previously announced, we will definitely pass it without any problems or compromises in the February special session of the National Assembly.' He also said, 'The increase in the number of Supreme Court Justices is to actively implement the spirit of the Constitution, and the court review system is to broadly guarantee the fundamental rights of the people.'
Also, the judicial reform plan, which includes the newly proposed 'crime of distortion of law' that has already been promised to the people, will be processed without any hesitation during the February special session of the National Assembly," it said. "The Democratic Party will proceed with the judicial reform process calmly and in an orderly manner, following the people's command.
