Samsung TV Plus, watched by 100 million people worldwide
Samsung's ad-supported free streaming (FAST) service has surpassed 100 million monthly active users (MAU) worldwide.
Samsung said on the 13th that the number of users of 'Samsung TV Plus' has increased by 12 million, about 1 year and 2 months. Samsung TV Plus is a free streaming service that can be watched immediately without any separate registration or payment.
Samsung TV Plus has been providing services since 2015. As major U.S. broadcasters launched FAST services, Samsung Electronics also nurtured Samsung TV Plus as an independent media platform, achieving these results. It not only schedules popular creator channels such as "Banyobottle" and "Hipyeu-jeom," but also introduced terrestrial 24-hour news channels such as "KBS News 24" and "SBS No.1 News Live," becoming the first domestic FAST platform to do so.
Samsung TV Plus currently offers free access to approximately 4,300 channels and 76,000 on-demand videos (VOD) in 30 countries worldwide.
Samsung said it plans to further expand its role in the global media ecosystem through Samsung TV Plus.
Jeong-hun Choi, Group President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business TV Plus, said, "Samsung TV Plus has grown into a global media platform that is naturally consumed in the daily lives of viewers around the world." He also stated, "Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our differentiated competitiveness in the FAST market through channel diversification and securing premium content."
