War Memorial Foundation Holds a Youth Education Program Competition

The Korea War Memorial Foundation will launch a contest for innovative educational ideas on war history from the 14th, calling for applications for a youth education program.

Participation involves selecting a theme related to the exhibition rooms of the War Memorial Museum (War History Rooms I and II, 6/25 War Room I, II, and III), and then designing an educational program in one of the three areas: ▲ Creative Experience Education, ▲ Family Creation Experience Education, or ▲ On-site Exploration Education. All programs must be based on the connection with the exhibition rooms, and should include the development of learning materials that enhance the educational effect.

Eligibility for participation includes museum and art museum experience activity instructors, current and former elementary and secondary school teachers, and undergraduate and graduate students in related departments such as museum education and history education. Individuals or teams may participate. The application period runs from February 14 to March 14.

The winning works are selected through document review and in-person interviews. A total of 5.5 million won in prizes will be awarded, including the Grand Prize, Excellent Award, Good Award, and Encouragement Award.

The winning work can be included as a regular educational program at the War Memorial, following the program development process, and the winner will be given priority to participate in instructor activities. Baek Seung-joo, chairman of the business association, said, "Through this competition, we plan to actively adopt fresh educational ideas and expand war history education programs that have professionalism and diversity." He also stated, "We will select outstanding programs through fair and solid evaluation so that young people can correctly understand and internalize the lessons of war and the value of peace."
