Katsina Trains Media Aides in AI and Social Media Skills

Enhancing Communication Skills: Katsina State Launches Media Training Workshop
The Katsina State Government has taken a significant step in advancing the communication capabilities of its media aides and communication officers by organizing a one-day media training workshop. The event focused on equipping participants with essential skills in social media management and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in strategic communication.
During the opening ceremony of the workshop, held at the Government House in Katsina, the Director-General of Media, Maiwada Dammallam, emphasized the importance of the initiative. He stated that the training was designed to address unprofessionalism among media aides and to provide them with modern communication tools necessary for effective information dissemination.
Dammallam highlighted the growing influence of digital communication and AI, noting that these technologies have become integral to global strategic communication. “We live in a world of communication. Artificial intelligence is now an indispensable tool globally adopted in strategic communication,” he said.
He further pointed out that social media platforms offer faster and more convenient means of communication compared to traditional media channels. “You cannot perform your duties effectively unless you have a good understanding of the tools you use as social media influencers and image makers. I urge you to pay close attention to this workshop, as it will make you better professionals,” Dammallam added.
The initiative was inspired by the leadership of Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, whom Dammallam described as visionary. “It is the recognition of the importance of social media and the global trend in adopting artificial intelligence that prompted this initiative under the visionary leadership of Dr Umaru Radda,” he explained.
The workshop, themed “Harnessing Social Media and AI for Effective Policy Implementation and Strategic Communication,” was conducted with the support of Optima Image Limited as the consultant.
One of the participants, Jamil Hashimu, a Media Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Governor, described the training as timely and beneficial. “We are here today to improve our skills in information dissemination and propagating government policies and programs to the citizens of Katsina State,” he said.
Hashimu expressed optimism that the workshop would enhance the capacity of media aides in effectively communicating government activities to the public. “This workshop will go a long way in improving the capacity of all media assistants and other media officials of the Katsina State Government to effectively disseminate information to the populace,” he added.
