Jang Sung-kyu's Karrot Jokbal Invite

A well-known broadcaster named Jang Sung-kyu made an unexpected appearance on the neighborhood community app 'Karrot', inviting local residents to meet up spontaneously. On the 11th, a post titled “Hello, I’m broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu” was shared on Karrot in the food community of Myeongil 2-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul.
The post was uploaded by a user named “Terini,” who included a selfie of Jang Sung-kyu and wrote, “This is the last evening without my wife. I want to play.” They added, “I’ll treat everyone, so I’m looking for four people to have jokbal (braised pig’s trotters) with me in Godeok on a first-come, first-served basis. I’ll accept chats until 8 p.m.”
Some Karrot users were skeptical about whether Jang Sung-kyu had actually posted the message. Comments like “Don’t lie” and “Write ‘Karrot’ on paper and verify it” appeared. In response, the poster asked, “Will you come if I verify it?” and then shared a photo of Jang Sung-kyu alone at a local jokbal restaurant. The message read, “You can confirm it if you come to Ungjung Jokbaljip. I’ll be waiting.”

Soon after, several users commented, “I’m a middle and high school alumnus of Sung-kyu; if it’s really him, I’ll go” and “I’ll go if I can guess which club we were in during high school.” Later, Jang Sung-kyu posted a photo of the jokbal restaurant with the message, “All four have gathered. Closed.” The image showed Jang and four neighbors sitting together with jokbal in front of them.
Those who saw the post late expressed regret, saying, “Call me if there’s a second meeting,” “Why did I see this now? Enjoy your freedom, husband,” and “I want to see Jang Sung-kyu too. Can’t I go even now?”
Karrot's neighborhood community service has evolved into a communication channel where people with shared interests in topics such as running, screen golf, parenting, and reading can meet freely. Notable examples include the “Geondo” group, which divides into police and thieves for chase games, and the “Gamja Twigim” group, which gathers at a nearby burger shop to share fries.
