Lee Joo-bin: "I don't feel the success of 40 million views for 'Spring Fever'... 'Queen of Tears' will be next and it's supposed to be good" [MD Interview Part 1]

An interview with actor Lee Joo-bin from tvN's weekend drama "Spring Fever" was held on the 11th at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

Spring Fever" is a pink-hued romantic comedy featuring teacher Yoon Bong, played by Lee Joo-bin, and the passionate man Seon Jae-gyu, played by Ahn Bo-hyun. The film stars Lee Jai-in and Jo Joon-young, and it is also the comeback work of director Park Won-kyung, who directed "Marry My Husband.

On that day, Lee Joo-bin said, "It was disappointing and sad, but since it was a work that meant a lot to me, I felt good," and added, "Since it was filmed in a full-location shooting in the provinces, I stayed there for a long time like my own home, so it felt like moving to Seoul."

"The Spring Fever" started with a viewership rating of 4.8% (Nielsen Korea nationwide standard) and ended with a final episode rating of 5.7%, setting a new personal high. In particular, by the fourth week of broadcast, it recorded a cumulative 410 million views, marking high popularity among tvN Monday-Tuesday dramas aired since last year.

Lee Joo-bin said, "Since the concept of 40 million views didn't really hit me, I asked how much that was, and they told me it was a very good number." He added, "When people around me said they enjoyed watching it, I felt that our drama was loved."

When asked about the reactions of people around him, Lee Joo-bin said, "Acquaintances told me they found my works, especially 'Queen of Tears,' the most enjoyable," and "Recently, I went for a photo shoot, and a mother and daughter gave me 'Two Cuteness' and said they enjoyed watching 'Spring Fever.' I felt that people are watching our drama interestingly in real time."

"I think the reason for this reaction is that the actor Anbo's character digestion and physical chemistry were good," she said, adding, "our work has elements that make people laugh and feel excited, rather than dealing with serious and heavy themes," expressing her affection for the work.

Lee Joo-bin had previously expressed his feelings about the conclusion, saying, "It was a wonderful work that rekindled my passion and love, which had been exhausted." Regarding this, he said, "Although I have been active for several years, playing the lead role was completely different. I felt confused, wondering if I was qualified for it." He added, "Once I experienced it, I felt much more responsible than in previous works, and I had many ambitions, so I was troubled by a lot of thoughts on my own. It was a time when I met this work, and receiving so much love gave me confidence," he said with a smile.
