What is Connections?

Connections is a web-based daily puzzle that was introduced by The New York Times in 2023. How to Play Connections

To begin playing, visit the official Connections page on the New York Times website and click “Play.” You will be shown an interactive 4x4 word grid. To start forming connections, select four words and press the “Submit” button located below the grid. If you want to unselect any word, simply click on it again.

If you find yourself stuck, the “Shuffle” button can help. This feature rearranges the words in the grid, potentially revealing new connections that you may not have noticed before. Keep in mind that you are allowed up to four mistakes, so it's important to think carefully before submitting your selections.

The puzzle is divided into four color-coded groups, each increasing in difficulty. The simplest group is marked in yellow (🟨), followed by green (🟩), then blue (🟦), and finally purple (🟪) as the most complex category. Each day’s puzzle is identical for all players and resets at midnight in your local time zone, making it a great way to connect with others around the world.
