Joni Lamb, Co-founder of Daystar TV, Dies at 65
A Legacy of Faith and Leadership
Joni Lamb, a pivotal figure in the world of Christian media, passed away at the age of 65. As the co-founder of the Daystar Television Network alongside her late husband, she played a crucial role in transforming the network into one of the largest Christian television networks globally. Her passing marks the end of an era for the organization and its millions of viewers.
According to a statement from the network, Joni had been dealing with significant health challenges before sustaining a back injury that worsened her condition. While the exact cause of her death has not been disclosed, the network emphasized her deep commitment to their mission and the strong leadership team she helped establish.
“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” the network's board of directors stated. They assured followers that the ministry will continue its work, honoring the legacy she built.
The Origins of a Global Ministry
Joni and her husband, Marcus Lamb, launched their broadcasting efforts in the Dallas area in 1993 with a single station. Their vision quickly expanded, and by 1998, Joni began hosting her popular daily women’s show. Based in Bedford, Texas, the Daystar Television Network grew to reach over 2.3 billion homes worldwide, broadcasting in more than 200 countries.
The network became known for its Pentecostal roots, emphasizing spirit-filled worship and belief in modern-day miracles. It has featured programs from renowned evangelists such as Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes, offering a platform for spiritual guidance and community engagement.
A Public Presence and Personal Challenges
In addition to her behind-the-scenes leadership, Joni was a familiar face on television, hosting “Joni Table Talk” and addressing everyday issues with her audience. Her presence brought a personal touch to the network, making it more relatable to viewers.
Her life was not without challenges. In 2010, she stood by her husband, Marcus, when he publicly admitted to an affair that occurred years earlier. The situation also involved allegations of extortion against Marcus. Joni shared that upon learning of his infidelity, she was devastated but found strength through prayer. She said the Holy Spirit told her, “He’s worth fighting for.”
Despite the turmoil, the couple worked to heal their marriage and hoped to keep the matter private. Joni later reflected on the experience, stating, “All you can do is tell the truth and take your pain and use it to try to help someone else.”
A New Chapter
After Marcus’s passing in 2021, Joni continued her work in ministry. Two years later, she married Doug Weiss, with whom she co-hosted the show “Ministry Now.” This new chapter highlighted her ongoing dedication to faith-based media and community outreach.
Joni Lamb’s life and career were marked by resilience, faith, and a deep commitment to her calling. Her contributions to the Daystar Television Network and the broader Christian community will be remembered for generations to come.
